Month of Shaban

The Islamic Lunar Calendar consists of twelve months. But, every month of the lunar calendar has its spiritual and historical significance. There are some months that hold a superior associated to other months. Just because of this the Ummah of Prophet (PBUH) is given more worth and respect. One of such months is the month of Shaban that comes before the month of Ramadan and Ramadan is a month when people prefer to perform Umrah with Ramadan Umrah Package for Muslims.

As we all know that the 8th month of Islamic Calendar is Shaban. Muslims all over the world give value to the month of Shaban because it is one of the most revered months for Ummah of Beloved Prophet (PBUH). The meaning of Shaban is “Branch”. The month of Shaban is between the two Holy months Rajab and Ramadan.

Muslims have special association with Shaban and now we see the importance of Shaban with Hadiths,

The Month of Shaban and Hadiths

The fasting is one of the major acts that Muslims do all over the world. But, you will be thinking that the month of fasting in Ramadan then why in Shaban. So, who keeps fasting in the month of Shaban he or she fulfills the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Hazrat Usama ibn Zayd (R.A) that he asked the Messenger of Allah,

“I have not ever seen you offer fast in a month as you do in Shaban. To which, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) responded, it is a month people contempt that is between Rajab and Ramadan. In that month performances are presented to the Allah of the Worlds, so I like my deeds to be presented while I am fasting.” (Nasai)

In another place, the Messenger of Allah said that,

“When the Middle Night of Shaban comes to, you should stand (Pleading) in the night and should fast in the day following it.” (Ibn Majah)

So, I think you people understand the importance of Shaban in the light of Hadiths. We must keep fasting and beg for Allah at the mid-night of Shaban. This is the best way to get close to Allah and pardon to Allah for our previous sins. Allah is Great and Kind, definitely, He will forgive us if we do Tauba with a true heart.
